Anne Arundel County Public Schools Technology
Refresh Project
Anne
Arundel County, Maryland PC
Delivery, Installation and Support
In December 2000, Daly was awarded a contract to supply Anne Arundel
County Public Schools (AACPS) with over 12,000 computers over a three-year
period. The overall contract is valued at $25 million and started an exciting
“Technology Refresh” leasing program for the school system. The contract states that all AACPS PCs are to be refreshed after three
years.
From May through September
of 2001, Daly deployed over 4,300 customized desktop computers and
over 150 turnkey ready-to-use file servers to over 150 schools throughout the
county. The deployment is part of a three year 12,000 seat rollout under a 36-month technology refresh
program. The project tasks
include:
- Conduct application
software image tests and customizations for all systems
- Conduct site surveys
into hundreds of schools
- Provide complete
project management and coordination with over 125 schools for a seamless
rollout
- Equipment delivery
and installation with minimum disruption to the customers
- Ensure all equipment
delivered is network enabled and tested
- Provide meticulous
asset management
- Remove and dispose of
thousands of obsolete equipment
- Provide help desk and
technical on-site support through the life of the equipment
Daly
wrapped up the first phase of the project in September 2001 by completing 180
delivery, installation and removal trips to AACPS schools and facilities.
By its conclusion, 4,310 PC’s and 155 File Servers were delivered
and installed and over 1,500 old computers were removed.
By employing Daly’ technicians for the AACPS technology
rollout and computer refresh project, the customer continues to experience
less than .5% of equipment failure and/or problems.
Customer Testimony:
“I would like to take this opportunity to commend
the team headed by Dan Farley installing the Refresh computers for Anne
Arundel County Public Schools. Mr. Farley’s team displayed extraordinary
skill and competence during the entire installation process of the computers
at Severn River Middle School. Each team member knew exactly their appointed
roles and worked together with synchronized knowledge. The most impressive
demonstration was their wonderful ability to adapt to different job
specifications. Dan Farley’s team made the process actually an enjoyable
one.”
