FEMA Emergency Deployment: Boise, Idaho
Cabling and Network Support
To help families and businesses recover from the
effects of devastating wildfires that burned more than a million acres of land
beginning July 27, 2000, Daly Technical Services Organization provided
Federal disaster aid for the State of Idaho. President Clinton ordered
assistance under a major disaster declaration for the fire in Boise, Idaho and
Daly immediately answered his request.
On Friday, September 1, 2000, Daly
received a call from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issuing a
task order to deploy a complete cabling and network team to Boise, Idaho.
On Saturday, September 2, 2000, Daly Technical
Services Organization’s engineering team arrived on site at Boise, Idaho. As a
preliminary step, the Daly staff met with the FEMA project manager at the site
to take possession of the building and begin its final walk through and
planning.
Thirteen hours later, the Daly staff began
cabling the building for data and voice. By Wednesday September 6, all cabling
was tested and completed. The cabling team departed, yet the network support
team remained for ongoing PC deployment, quality control and network support.
Eventually, the remainder of the Daly FEMA team
departed and the project was brought to full completion. Daly’s FEMA Disaster
Response Team deployed a total of 3.6 miles of cabling pulled in 72 hours for
both data and voice including absolute quality control.
Services Provided under Daly Technical
Services Organization’s FEMA Contract No. EMS-2000-DO-0042.
